All of the soil and plant waste generated in our lab is sterilized and used as compost to fertilize crops like saffron, hot peppers, garlic, and honey produced in the Biology Research Garden during the summer. The plasticware including pots, trays, and stakes used to grow Arabidopsis plants is washed and reused. Our plants are grown organically without the use of pesticides. These are some steps we took to reduce our impact on the environment.
