Field trip to Cannabis Orchards

The lab was invited to participate in annual hemp planting during the first week of June when thousands of seedlings are transplanted into the field for the growing season. Our job was to walk behind the tractor and make sure each plant landed upright and their roots were covered with soil. It was a muddy job at times, but there's nothing like spending a day in the great outdoors : ) An especially exciting milestone was the field planting of Laura's first batch of tetraploid hemp plants grown from seed, marking an important step forward in our polyploid breeding program.
