Molly gets a little salty

Here she is at Undergraduate Research Day ready to tell about how she used scanning electron microscopy to study a crusty little shrub called "four wing salt bush". This incredible plant develops inflatable bladders on the surface of its leaves that soak up salt. Transferring this special power to crop plants may help them to tolerate salty soils with fewer adverse effects.
